Example Curriculum

Jessica English,
AdvCD/PCD/BDT(DONA), LCCE, FACCE
Jessica started her birth business as a childbirth educator in 2005. Today, she is also an advanced certified birth doula, postpartum doula, owner of Michigan's first and longest-running doula agency, and the owner and lead trainer at Heart Soul Birth Pros. She is a DONA approved birth doula trainer and a Lamaze program director and trainer.
Jessica is in her second term on the State of Michigan's Doula Advisory Council, and she was instrumental in establishing Medicaid coverage for doulas in Michigan and raising reimbursement to an equitable rate. In addition to supporting families and new doulas, she also has a specialty area training nurses in hands-on labor support skills.
When she's not taking care of families or training up birth workers, Jessica is transitioning to become an "adulting consultant" to her sons as they blossom into amazing young men. She loves fishing, travel and spending time on the water with her husband Keith and their boys.

Krista Maltais,
AdvPCD/PDT(DONA), ALC, BS Family Studies
Krista Maltais is an Advanced Postpartum Doula (AdvPCD) and Certified Postpartum Doula Trainer (PDT) through DONA International and an Advanced Lactation Consultant (ALC) through the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Family Studies from the University of New Hampshire.
Krista began working as a postpartum doula in 2006. She co-founded the Great Bay Doulas in 2011 and, in 2018, Krista founded Relief Parenting Respite & Resource Center. In 2023, Krista became the Director of Membership for DONA International and published her first book, titled: “My Baby, Our Doula, and Me”.
Krista resides on the Seacoast of New Hampshire with her husband and two sons. She often travels for speaking engagements and to train postpartum doulas; additionally, she holds worldwide virtual workshops.
